The largest employer in 1980 that shared more than 50% of the total employment gave way to wholesale, retail, import/export trades, restaurants and hotels, which took a share of nearly 35% of that in 1996. This was followed by community, social and personal services, whose employment percentage rose from 16.5% to 21.4%.
